FCC turnarounds use a single large crane for all material movement — scaffolding, insulation, refractory, mechanical components, and tools. Everything happens sequentially because the crane can only serve one task at a time.

At a 96,000 bbl/day refinery, every hour on critical path costs hundreds of thousands of dollars in deferred production. The FCC reactor is too congested to fit a second crane.
